Christmas in a Mug

Hello everyone!

It's Kat here. Now we all know it's getting close to that time of year... when it's ice cold outside, and all you want to do is snuggle up on the sofa, by the fireplace, wrapped in blankets with a mug of hot cocoa! We all know that feeling right? I'm here with a new blog post for the perfect Xmas hot chocolate recipe that will make you feel both cosy and festive!

Christmas Spiced Hot-Chocolate

Ingredients:
  • 1tbsp pure cocoa powder
  • 1/2tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2tsp ground ginger
  • 1tsp sugar (demerara or caster sugar) - this is only to take away the bitterness form the cocoa powder. A sweetener may be used to replace it.
  • 1 cup milk
  • ¼ tsp vanilla essence
  • whipped cream
  • mini marshmallows
Method:
Heat up a cup of milk in the microwave for 1 minute. Then pour it into a jar with a lid. Next, add the cinnamon, cocoa powder, sugar (optional) and vanilla essence. Ready for the fun part? Screw the lid onto the jar and get shaking! Shake for around 30 seconds until the hot chocolate is well mixed and nice and throthy! Then pour the hot chocolate into any Christmas mug of your choice and heat up for another 10 seconds. Now you can top it with whipped cream and marshmallows, then enjoy your warm and cosy Christmas spiced hot-chocolate!

Tip- Add a cinnamon stick or two to your mug to make it extra festive and to add flavour! If you like the taste of nutmeg and star-anise, they are also a great addition to this hot chocolate.

Gingerbread Latte

Ingredients:
  • 1tsp ground ginger
  • ¼ tsp ground cinnamon
  • ¾ cup of coffee (decaf or caffeinated)
  • 1tsp cocoa powder (optional)
  • 1tsp sugar (also optional)
  • ¼ cup of milk
  • ¼ tsp vanilla essence
  • whipped cream
  • mini gingerbread men
Method:
Heat up the milk for 30 seconds in the microwave. Then make any type of coffee which you normally have, whether that is decaf or caffeinated. Pour a 3/4 cup of the coffee in a jar with the milk. Add the rest of the ingredients (not including the whipped cream and the gingerbread man), put on some Christmas music and get shaking for 30 seconds! Then pour into a mug and heat up for 10 seconds. Then top with whipped cream if necessary and you will have your finished gingerbread latte!

Tip- Add a gingerbread man to your latte for decoration and for a sweet Xmas treat! Also, if you crumble up a gingerbread man and dissolve it into the latte before you shake it, it will give it an extra strong gingerbread taste!

This mug from Cath Kidston is really cute and perfect for Christmas

I think that this Christmas travel cup is just so cute, and it is great if you are on the go but still want to be in the Christmas Spirit!

Thank you for reading, I hope you found this helpful. I am about to go and enjoy a gingerbread latte now, but have a lovely day everyone!

See you next time!
